I know ... you're asking, "What the heck is digital scrapping?" Well, it is my obsession! I have tried to keep a scrapbook for all of the kids since Nick was born in 1997. But I have been very unsuccessful. Paper scrapbooking just takes too much time and makes a huge mess! So, I have always had big plans for scrapbooks but they never materialized. In August of 2004, I was trying to get back into scrapbooking and I was looking around the Internet and stumbled across a web site called Scrapbook Bytes. This discovery changed my way of life! It sounds drastic but very rarely do I go through a day without checking out the galleries and forums of my favorite digiscrapping web sites. But I still haven't answered your question ... Digital Scrapbooking is a new way to create scrapbook pages. But instead of using scissors and paper, you use your computer and then print it out. There are many designers out there that you can purchase "elements" and "paper" from. It's just like going into a scrapbook store and buying paper and embellishments but the beauty of doing it digitally is that you can use the stuff over and over. And let's say the paper isn't exactly the right color, well with digital scrapping, you can use your photo editing software (I use Photoshop) and change the color!

I create approximately ten or more digital scrapbook pages each month. Compare that to when I was paper scrapping and I wasn't even completing that many in a year! And I am scrapping some of those hundreds of heritage photos I have sitting in my computer. But the best part is that I am having a blast and at the same time creating something that can be passed down from generation to generation. My great-great-great grandchildren will probably think Grandma England was crazy but at least they will know a lot about me and my family!

I currently serve on the creative team for Scrap Artist. To see more of what I do, and what I have had published, check out my scrap resumé.
